Joyeux Noel

Good morning CDD fans! It is my pleasure to host the daily post today here on the CDD blog. The idea for this started from a tissue box believe it or not. It was a light blue background with a red bird, I thought it was so pretty so I had to come up with my version of it.

First I used the circle die from the die set.  I cut out the top layer of my shaker card and then a piece of my Xpress card stock which I was going to stamp my images onto.  I inked up the background with some of my Tim Holtz distress ink then dusted it with Perfect Pearls for that shimmer look.

The birds came from the 2x3 stamp set called .  I stamped them about where I wanted them and then cut out some branches using the for the birds to sit on. The greenery came from dies which I draped around the banner from the . To finish it all off I used the "Joyeux Noel" sentiment from

Thank you for stopping by the Craftin' Desert Divas blog today and sharing a moment of your day with me!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Hi everyone, DT member Jeanin here with another fun project. I was at a craft fair a couple of weeks ago and found these clear acrylic Christmas ornaments and thought that it would be a fun crafty project to decorate them with moss and stamped images.  So I went outside to get some moss and dried it for a couple of days. I chose the adorable penguin and reindeer digi stamps to include in the ornaments.

So I downsized the images so they would easily fit in the ornaments and because I wanted the images to be on both sides, I mirrored them and printed two versions for each ornament. Then I colored them with alcohol markers. Since the images were really small I only did some basic coloring without much shading (apart from the penguin's hat). After fuzzy cutting the images (or rather let them be fuzzy cut by my cutting machine) I adhered the original and mirrored images together.

I cut the moss in place and glued each image on top using a hot glue gun. Then I cut easily place the moss and the image in my Christmas ornament.

I really hope you like this idea and give it a try. These would also make perfect Christmas gifts. See you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and welcome to the CDD Daily post being brought to you from The Relativity of Paper. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because it's Thanksgiving Day, a day to be with family and friends.

I always try to get the most use out of my die-cuts by using them for more than what they are intended. Today I'm sharing how to turn some everyday circles, ovals, and banners into a Turkey.
I was thinking that this would be fun for kids to make. You could pre-cut the pieces and let them assemble, a little holiday craft to keep them busy while you baste the turkey.

Here are the products I used:

CARD BASE:
  • 4.25"x 5.5" card base - 8.5" x 11" #110 cardstock scored at 5.5" and cut at 4.25" to create to top fold card bases
LAYERS:
  • Die-cut Kraft cardstock using largest Fancy Frame Die
  • Die-cut seven banners using the wavy banner die and cut in half, die-cut five banners using largest banner die from the Flag Banner Dies, type Gobble Gobble onto cardstock and die-cut with banner die to create wings
  • Die-cut scalloped circle and stitched circle using Stitched In Circle Dies
  • Die cut oval from Fancy Stitched Label Dies
  • Die-cut bow tails from Shaker Tag Dies for feet

Assemble:

  • Layer Kraft cardstock onto card base
  • Assemble turkey and add 3D mounting foam to back, adhere to Kraft cardstock
  • Add googly eyes to finish off and sentiment inside

Sentiment I used;
Gobble til You Wobble.
Happy Turkey Day!

As always, thank you for joining us!
