Hi,
Craftin Desert Divas' DT member Susan here with a tutorial on making galaxy backgrounds on dark paper using alcohol inks and Jennifer McGuire's marbling technique. I have a You Tube video below showing the process and making the card. This is my very first video so please excuse any problems. What I learned it that the colored alcohol inks do not show up very well on the black card stock. I was hoping that a colored hue would be added to the paper but it really didn't. So save those colored inks for white paper!!!
Here is the card:
First, I filled a glass baking dish with 1.5" of water and then added the inks and the mixatives. I stirred them around with a straw. I used Bazzill Black Licorice 110 lb cardstock.
Then, I realized that the only inks that show up on black are the mixatives. The other important point is that you need to grab the clumps of ink when you dip your paper. The second photo shows the background I actually used. I had finally figured out to grab those clumps of ink and add extra mixatives. In this case I used both silver and gold.
This process generated several backgrounds and I could have kept going to make more!!! The backs of the card fronts look just as good. I can see lots of possibilities using this technique!
